The storage, handling and transportation of bulk solid materials are major activities within the mining industry throughout the world. Considerable advances continue to be made in research, development and application of the technologies associated with understanding materials behaviour and influence on plant performance.
In this introductory course to bulk solids handling, the principles of flow properties will be presented including testing procedures, interpretation and application to the design of handling systems including mass flow/funnel flow, stockpile design and mass reconciliation, transfer chute and conveyor design.
