Feedback opportunity: Shaping the future of renewable fuels in NSW
Your feedback will help shape the future of renewable fuels in the state and support the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape.
The NSW Government is inviting feedback on its discussion paper, "Opportunities for a Renewable Fuel Industry in NSW."
Renewable fuels, such as green hydrogen, biogas, biomethane, biodiesel, renewable diesel, methanol, and sustainable aviation fuel, are key to reducing reliance on fossil fuels. They offer sustainable options for various sectors and can help achieve long-term emissions goals while providing immediate benefits for decarbonisation.
The NSW Government is planning to update its Renewable Fuel Scheme in 2024. This update will reflect industry developments and potentially expand the scheme to cover more renewable fuels and liable parties. The discussion paper outlines these changes and seeks input from stakeholders to guide these adjustments.
Your input can inform this initiative to expand the state's renewable fuel sector and meet its emission reduction targets.
A thriving renewable fuel industry will provide NSW with significant economic growth, attract investment, and create jobs and opportunities for businesses and communities. The paper aims to gather opinions on how best to foster this industry while managing price impacts and supporting competition.
To contribute, read the discussion paper and provide your insights on how NSW can build a robust renewable fuel industry.
Feedback can be submitted in two ways: by using the provided discussion paper submission template and emailing it as a PDF to renewablefuelscheme@environment.nsw.gov.au, or by filling out the online feedback form.
The deadline for submissions is 5 pm AEST on 30 August 2024.
