Dubbo to host 2023 Resources, Energy & Industry Innovation Forum
The four-day forum will bring together thought leaders, industry experts, business leaders, and representatives from all levels of government on this year’s key theme of ‘towards a zero emissions future’.
Regional Development Australia (RDA) Orana in partnership with the Association of Mining & Energy Related Councils NSW (MERC) is pleased to announce the 2023 Resources, Energy & Industry Innovation Forum (REIIF), to be held in Dubbo on 6-9 June.
Keynote speakers include Kate Minter, General Manager of Rewiring Australia; Stephen Galilee has been CEO of the NSW Minerals Council; Michael Sharpe, the Steering Committee Chairman of the Australian Government's Sustainable Communities and Waste Hub; and Dr Veena Sahajwalla, 2022 NSW Australian of the Year, internationally recognised materials scientist and engineer, and recycling science inventor.
The forum presents an excellent opportunity for attendees to connect with industry experts and explore the latest innovations and practices in the energy and resources industries. Sessions within the 2023 REIIF include:
- Industry & Innovation Day – an industry day focussed on project announcements, new technologies and innovations available to industry, including practical solutions for a zero emissions future.
- Energy and Resource Site Tours – attendees will have the opportunity to visit key local businesses focussing on either resources or energy as part of a tour.
- Opportunities for Communities Forum – a day aimed at building a shared understanding between industry, Government, Local Councils and their communities on managing transition and social licences, leveraging opportunities and workforce planning.
The Forum will conclude with a MERC members meeting, which observers are welcome to attend.
MERC’s Executive Officer, Greg Lamont, explains that the Forum will allow participants to identify opportunities and build connections to encourage collaboration on the big issues affecting communities now and in the future.
“The Forum is about moving towards a zero emissions environment in the future, so everything is on the table for consideration. We’re asking businesses to discuss how they are responding to the Federal Government’s zero emissions targets, as well as having industry experts and practitioners share their knowledge.” Lamont says.
“We’ll be getting each of the parties together to discuss what’s best for the community, businesses, governments and local councils. What better way than to come along and hear how the business sector is responding to government policy and what local councils are doing about it, plus hear from panellists and keynote speakers so that they can evaluate business opportunities.”
